Haunted by memories of a botched mission in Kiev, Jay, a retired hitman, is trying his hand at family life. But when the money starts to dry up and he can’t seem to support his wife’s luxurious spending habits, Jay decides to take on one last mysterious and high paying job with his old partner Gal. Unaware of what the entirety of the mission entails, they set off to a remote hotel in rural England awaiting further instruction. Kill List is one of those cinematic experiences best approached with a fresh eye. Wheatley smartly holds back on the details, carefully unwrapping the plot piece by piece like a delicate and evil present. The film starts as a dryly-humorous drama about a pair of badasses growing up and tumbles down the darkest and sickest of rabbit holes to become something completely different.
